Did you know that this simple daily activity can help you feel more happy and calm?

A gratitude journal is, quite simply, a tool to keep track of the good things in life.
No matter how difficult and defeating life can sometimes feel, there is always something to feel grateful for. This simple action is more powerful than you think.

Benefits of keeping a gratitude journal:

  • It can help you feel calmer, especially at night.

  • Journaling can give you a new perspective on what is important to you and what you truly appreciate in your life.

  • By noting what you are grateful for, you can gain clarity on what you want to have more of in your life, and what you can do without.

  • Gratitude journaling can help you find out and focus on what really matters to you.

  • Keeping a gratitude journal helps you learn more about yourself and become more self-aware.

  • Your gratitude journal is for your eyes only, so you can write anything you feel without worrying about judgment from others.

  • On days when you feel blue, you can read through your gratitude journal to readjust your attitude and remember all the good things in your life. (Jessen, 2015)

How to use our journal:
At the end of each day, just before bed, take a few deep breaths and think about your day. Then all you do is write down the date and 3 things from today that you are grateful for.

They can be things that happened, people that you feel lucky to have in your life, something you did well, a funny story that made you laugh, the weather or even something yummy you ate.

There is almost always something to be grateful for but on some days you might find it harder to think of things so on those days you could just write about how you are feeling instead or talk to someone you feel comfortable with.

Did you know that this simple daily activity can help you feel more happy and calm? It even helps you learn more about yourself and what is important to you.

Try and write in your Gratitude Journal every night for 3 weeks and see what a difference it makes to your life. You could even share the idea with your family and encourage everyone to share what they are grateful for at the dinner table or when saying goodnight. I hope you enjoy the benefits of using a Gratitude Journal..
